What’s in my holiday makeup bag

I’m away for Christmas this year, which means I won’t have my entire makeup collection to choose from on a day-to-day basis. I thought I’d run you guys through some of the items in my makeup bag this season, as they’re a pretty fun gang.

The Base

My skin has been a lot drier the past few weeks and especially after jumping from temperature to temperature, I need a base that makes my skin look nice and healthy. I used my Maybelline Dewy + Smooth foundation, and to brighten my eyes, I used my Maybelline Fit Me! concealer over my neutralizing concealer. Since I really want my skin to radiate, I’ve been using my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders to set my under eye concealer as well as my T-zone. The powders are super fine and really set my makeup without becoming cakey or heavy on my skin, which is perfect for attending holiday events, or even just running around Christmas shopping all day.

The Flush

Choosing a blush to accompany me all the way to America was a challenge, but I narrowed it down to two that I find to be really versatile. The first is the Benefit Box o’ Powder blush in Rockateur, which is a shade that suits almost every look I could think of, kissing my cheeks with a rose gold sheen. My second option is my Tarte 12-Hr. Amazonian Clay Tartelette blush. It’s a bit more on the cool-toned side and is a bit more of a subtle baby pink. The packaging is super adorable and helps me get in the festive mood when applying it. For bronzer, I couldn’t decide on just one so I took my Little Black Book of Bronzers by Too Faced, so I have some options for bronzing as well as contouring. (It may not fit in my makeup bag, but it’s sleek and compact enough that it’s not hard to travel with)

The Eyes

I’ve been needing to use my Smashbox Double Exposure palette more, and since it has a bunch of shades that would suit this time of year, I thought to bring it along with me. However, since it’s lacking in the neutrals department, I took along a small Can Make trio, which has a deep, warm, satin brown, and warm, light satin pink, and a shimmer champagne. My liquid liner recently dried up, much to my horror, but Double Exposure comes with a matte dark brown and black, so an angled brush will fit my needs, hopefully. I also took along a Can Make Jewel Eyes shadow, which is a creamy, white glitter shadow that can be used on it’s own or as a base for another light glitter shade, such as the one in the Can Make trio. While we’re on the topic of single shadows, I also packed my Mark Kay single shadow in , which is a beautiful blue-toned silver, perfect for when I want a break from warm tones. One special “holiday season” item I’m excited to break out is my Constellation Gel Liner by Milani in Black Opal. The combination of colored flecks of shimmer make it a real statement on the eyes, though it’s not as crazy as one might think.

The Lips

Buckle up, ladies and gents, because I had a tough time deciding on the lip products for this trip. Red lips however are a must, and some of the items in that department include my Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte lipstick in Rich Ruby, a Sonia Kashuk lip liner , and the Shiseido Lacquer Rouge in Nocturne. Other pieces include the Rimmel London lipstick in Sugar Plum (which is just about the most festive lipstick name out there) and Milani Brilliant Shine lipgloss in 11 Nude Touch .

The Glow

The extra glow is super appropriate during the Holidays, and I packed one subtle and one stark. For the soft and subtle natural glow, I chose Rosé Champagne Glow from Wet n’ Wild, and for a bold radiance I opted for my Tony Moly Crystal Blusher in #8 Gold Glamour. It’s white-gold sheen makes it neutral, so it will suit both a warm-toned and a cool-toned look.

The Nails

I love red for holiday season, it’s no secret. So, for my nails I packed two perfect reds. OPI‘s I’m Really Not A Waitress (one of my favorite nail polishes of all time) which is a deep, almost ox blood red, with a marble swirl to it. It’s ideal for the festive season from Thanksgiving through NYE. The there’s also Sally Hansen‘s 470 red My Lips, which is the ideal firetruck-red. The formula is gorgeous, and it dries super quickly. I also took a white detail-polish for some fun designs from Milani, and a small gold glitter one for sparkly topcoats.
