In honor of my blog’s one year anniversary the other day, I thought it would be nice to reflect back on the posts I’ve made in this past year. After all, I have made made over 100. That being said there’s more than one way to define a blog post as successful here on WordPress, wouldn’t you say? Given the stats option, we can see how many have viewed our posts, liked them, commented, but success can also mean how proud and satisfied you, the creator, are with your work. So, out of the other 120 posts on this blog, I’m going to give you my Top 10 posts in terms of ratings and how satisfied I am with my work on the post.

My top post, “Estée Lauder Pure Color Sculpting Shine Lipsticks” is my most viewed post to date with 239 views in a year. I almost as many followers as that on this blog currently! It may not have nearly as many likes but I am really pleased with my quality of writing and describing these lipsticks and I hope it has helped all those viewers in purchasing one, because if you’ve read the post, you would know they are so worth it. My review of the Too Faced Little Black Book of Bronzers is my second most viewed post at almost 100 views, which I still find mind boggling. I am proud of the photo quality of the swatches and product, and I have rather fond memories of documenting things for that post since I was discovering bronzers to use at every time of year and every occasion. I even discovered my favorite bronzers, my all-time being Sun Bunny.
I’ve done a lot of reviews over the past year, and a majority of my posts are product reviews and demonstrations, especially mascaras, and two of them made this list: the Heroine Make Volume and Curl waterproof and the Maybelline Lash Sensational. One I adore and one I hate (which you’ll learn if you read them). Like the Bronzer Wardrobe review I’m really satisfied with the detail I went into and the demonstrative photos, as they’re super helpful when I’m figuring out which mascaras I want to repurchase and their specific pros and cons. I’ve also done a few other lip product reviews aside from the Estée Lauder ones, and my first impressions post on the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks reminded me of the organized and super descriptive format of the Estée Lauder format, just with better quality photos both in terms of lighting and layout to make them more appealing. I feel even the header image for that post is visual evidence as to how my blogging skills have grown and blossomed. And speaking of blooming and excellent blog photography, “Bloomin’ Pink” marked a glorious milestone in Kaya’s blogging photography skill set! I appreciated the rather simple yet organized writing and my layout in the photos are super appealing, if I do say so myself.
While on the subject of blogging photography, my post “What’s in My Holiday Makeup Bag” was one of the few I made while in the US this past year, and I was really satisfied with the formatting and flow of my writing. I was also fond of the products I got to write about, as the festive seasons is one of my favorite times of the year, especially with beauty. I also loved the photos I took for it once again as they were rather different from what I usually do with my more limited shooting space in Norway. Another post that was super fun for me was my post, “10 Things I’ve Learned About Beauty”. I think these posts are so much fun to read and was a really great way to not only reflect on how much I’ve learned, but to see all the tips and tricks you, my dear readers, recommended in the comments! I love getting discussions started and spreading the beauty- inner and outer.
In the past year I’ve also shared several of my outer beauty looks. They’ve ranged from holiday party show-stoppers to a vampy five-minute-face, and my Fall Style Diary: Quick Fall Fix with YSL has been no exception. I was super happy with the way the look turned out and given that it’s my most viewed makeup tutorial post, you all seemed to enjoy it too. I got to use some of my favorite products from Fall, as well as walk you through a step-by-step tutorial for the look. “A Pinch of Peach” detailed a look that was the exact opposite, and while it’s one of my most recent posts, I’m highly satisfied with it and I think it helps to reflect how I can change preference in makeup from time to time. Once again, I’m also super satisfied with my photos in this post and I find that their quality helps to bring out the fresh-faced youthfulness of it.
This blog has thus far been a highly rewarding part of my youth. I write it purely as an outlet for my love of beauty and desire to spread and share knowledge of it and other things I love. I hope the next year and however many years after that will bring all of you lovely readers posts of even better quality. Thank you for sticking with me for the past 366 days- your encouragement, feedback, and companionship mean more to me than you could ever know.
Here’s to one nostalgic, sappy post and another great year of blogging ahead! Cheers!
