March seems to have passed us by in a whirlwind, and what with about 4 weeks left of school, I really don’t know where the time has gone. But a new season has arrived, and that means I’ve been able to break out and dabble in my spring makeup, which in turn means I have a lot of favorites to get through from March 2016. Let’s hop on into it, shall we?
Benefit Box-o’- Powder Blush in Dandelion
I made sure to wish for this Benefit Box-o-Powder blush for Christmas this year so I could use it all throughout the spring and summer. Whilst the word “dandelion” brings to mind spring and summer, I found myself initially being underwhelmed by the shade I saw in the box. However, upon giving it it’s test run on my cheeks I was shot with cupid’s arrow, and so Dandelion became one of my new makeup favorites. It gives such a refreshing, natural flush that has been keeping me looking awake now that I’m trying to wake up earlier. All hail the season of awakening blushes! I love Rockateur and can’t wait to try out the others. Next on my list is Coralista!
Dior Healthy Glow Blush
This blush has been in my collection for months now, but I’ve been waiting to really try and get some use out of it now. I was a tad skeptical when I first saw this in stores as it’s unique for changing color based on the individual’s pH levels in their skin. In the pan and when swatched it’s almost a florescent pink, but still super soft and radiant- a healthy glow! Even when it’s altered it’s color, it still is a cool-toned blush which I don’t mind having in the spring. The formula is so pigmented and soft, but if you happen to not be as light-handed with blush application, fret not- it’s smooth and blendable! I can’t wait to try the Healthy Glow lip products!
Bare Minerals Original Loose Powder Foundation
This foundation has been a favorite of mine before but I put it away for the dry-skin months of winter and upon traveling away from my makeup collection for a while, I found that my little deluxe-sample pot was perfect. As a matter of fact, I didn’t once use the other foundation I had packed with me! Breaking this product out again made me remember why I loved it: my skin looked radiant, healthy and warm and a little product goes such a long way despite being a loose powder foundation. It blends out really well with a kabuki brush and despite having had a few little breakouts on my skin this past month, it’s managed to provide decent, light-feeling coverage for them. I know I certainly will keep using this product over the next few months, since it suits the spring and summer heat. You can read my full review of this foundation here!
Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette
Another product that was a purchase a while back, but I didn’t really break in until now. Sadly, this palette is limited edition but I’m sure you can still find it available somewhere! It really is prefect for someone interested in dabbling with non-neutral eyeshadow shades. While it has several shades that could be considered neutrals and workable everyday colors (like the sparkly orange that is nowhere near as pigmented and intense as one might assume), it does have some brighter colors. However, like other Too Faced 9-shade palettes, the shades are versatile and can be used with the others in it’s row, if you’re unsure of where to start. I did a look featuring the colors in the Sugar Plums (the middle row) in my last post and a whole review and swatch post on this palette before. The packaging is also to-die-for Parisian with the macaroons.
Marc Jacobs Dot
Over the past nine months or so I’ve got to experiment with a lot of the Marc Jacobs fragrances, and I must say, I truly get the hype now. Of the four minis that I have Daisy, Daisy EDT, Dot, and Honey, Honey is probably my favorite. However, after experiencing quite a lot of rain the sweet smell of Easter chocolate and gummies, I felt Dot made me smell sweet, fresh and youthful. It’s a super uplifting scent and I think the packaging design of the lady-bug spot printed butterfly wings are super cute and appropriate for spring. I have a spring fragrance post coming up soon, so stay tuned for that!
Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Naked
I picked this beauty up in Germany and it hardly left my lips all of March. It’s such an easy swipe-and-go lipstick, and it sits super comfortably on the lips. Being a MLBB shade, it suits most makeup looks and really helps to create a fresh, natural look. I really want to check out the lipliner in this shade as well as the Naked 2 lipstick.
Forever 21 narrow sculpting Galaxy brush
It just occurred to me that all of the other products in this post are in the premium price range. Which is why I’m especially excited to mention this budget gem next! The first makeup brushes I ever bought were from Forever 21. They were cheap and do their job pretty damn well. For Christmas one of my best friends gifted me a very similar style brush set, and at first I thought “Oh, well now I have duplicates”, but to my surprise almost all of the brushes were slightly different in use. This brush is denser and fluffier than a fan brush, but has worked very nicely when getting my contour and bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks and along the sides of my nose. This brush is duofibered and is super fluffy and easy to clean (no shedding, no scratching).
